Five Fashion Trends to Watch for Summer 2016

Summer means toes in the sand, tanning next to your best friends and wearing your new bikini. This Summer I’m excited to see a push away from minimalism in favor of bright colors, childlike fun and striking sex appeal. Summer 2016 has no time for wallflowers! If you’re looking to turn heads these are my top trends to try. Oh, and If you see something you like, click on the pic!

Orange
The stand out colour for summer is orange, so expect to see all your favourite styles in this eye catching colour. Dion Lee and Adam Selman and Veronica Beard showed us pants and a jumpsuits, while BOSS and Marissa Webb gave us romantic dresses in this season’s hot colour. Those not ready to dress in head to toe orange can take inspiration from Giulietta and tone it down with navy blue.

Pajama Party
The perfect trend for the lazy girl, you’ll get away with wearing your pajama suit to work this season. Dolce and Gabbana brought pajamas out of the bedroom with an oversized floral print suit. Sonia Rykiel showed off a silk pajama set patterned with a bird motif. If you’re more of a sex kitten than a comfy sleeper no problem. Lingerie inspired slip dresses are huge this season, from Givenchy’s effortlessly sexy shimmering dress to Balenciaga, who paired their slip dress with lace  slippers.

Spanish Influence
A girl wanting to stand out should look to Barcelona for inspiration. This season Proenza Schouler and Roberto Cavalli showed us sexy off the shoulder styles with eye catching ruffles. Muted red, black and white are the key colours to pull off this look. Michael Kors created a red and black floaty layered dress with a pattern reminiscent of roses. Oscar de la Renta opted for a lux red cape over a sexy lace top.

Cartoonish Imagery
This season saw designers rework childlike cartoon iconography into high fashion. Gucci showed a floral embroidered suit paired with a pineapple patterned tie, while Prada used cute patterns with a printed rocket ship top. And get ready to embrace your inner 90s kid with light up shoes for grownups. Chanel showed a pair of attention grabbing light up sliders for a girl who wants to be the life of the party.

Leather with a Twist
Biker jackets and leather continue to be popular this season, especially ones with a decadent twist. Louis Vuitton showed an iconic pink leather jacket with black accents. Gucci took it one step further with a biker jacket fully embroidered with girly flowers and butterflies. If you prefer your leather jackets to be simpler, why not try a new shape? Anthony Vaccarello showed us how to make an oversize leather jacket look feminine with a slightly sheer shirt.
